Choose the Right System for Your Home

There is no single best system — there is the system that fits your home, your ductwork and how you actually live in it. Every Mars HVAC installation starts with a load calculation based on your home’s size, insulation, windows, orientation and ductwork, so the equipment is matched to the house. Oversized systems short-cycle and leave humidity behind; undersized systems run constantly and still fall behind on hot days.

Outdoor condenser unit of a central air conditioning system

Central AC Installation

Full central air conditioning installation and replacement — new condenser, coil or air handler, refrigerant lines and thermostat, with ductwork evaluated first. See AC installation.

Multiple outdoor HVAC condenser units installed in a row

Heat Pump Installation

One system that heats and cools — in Southern California’s mild winters a heat pump is one of the most practical, efficient ways to do both. See heat pumps.

Ductless Mini-Splits

Room-by-room heating and cooling without ductwork — ideal for additions, converted garages, ADUs, primary suites and older homes never built with ducts. See ductless mini-splits.

What a Mars HVAC Installation Includes

  • Load calculation and equipment selection guidance
  • Evaluation of existing ductwork, with repair or modification options
  • Removal and responsible disposal of the old equipment
  • New condenser, coil or air handler, refrigerant lines, and thermostat
  • City permits and inspections
  • Title 24 compliance testing, including duct leakage and refrigerant charge verification where required
  • System startup, balancing, and a walkthrough of operation and filter care
  • Equipment warranty registration, plus the option of a maintenance plan to keep the system running the way it did on day one

Repair or Replace? We Lay Out Both Paths Honestly

If your current system needs a major repair, is well into its service life, uses phased-out R-22 refrigerant, breaks down repeatedly, or simply cannot keep the house comfortable during a heat wave, replacement often makes more sense than another repair bill.

During your estimate we lay out both paths — what a repair buys you and what a new system changes — so you can decide with real numbers in front of you. Start with AC repair or furnace repair if you want the repair picture first.

How HVAC Installation Works

1

Evaluate & Size

In-home evaluation with a load calculation and a ductwork check — the right size comes from the calculation, not from the tonnage of the unit being replaced.

2

Written Proposal

You get a written proposal before work begins, with equipment options — central AC, heat pump or ductless — compared honestly for your house.

3

Install & Permit

We protect floors and work areas, set and connect the equipment, pull city permits, and handle inspections. A straightforward like-for-like replacement is typically completed in a day.

4

Test & Walk Through

We charge and test the system, complete Title 24 verification, verify performance room by room, register your warranty, and review operation and filter care with you.

HVAC Installation Pricing — How Quotes Are Built

Mars HVAC does not publish a one-size-fits-all installation price, because there isn’t an honest one: cost depends on the system type, the size your load calculation calls for, duct condition, and permit and Title 24 requirements. What we do publish is how your quote is built — and that your estimate is free.

Step What you get Price

HVAC Installation FAQs

How long does an HVAC installation take?

A straightforward like-for-like replacement is typically completed in a day. Installations that include duct modification, a relocated condenser, or a full new system in a home that never had central air take longer, and we give you a clear schedule before work begins so you can plan around it.

Do I need new ducts when I replace my system?

Not always — but ducts are the most commonly overlooked part of a replacement. If your existing ductwork is intact, sealed, and properly sized, we reuse it. If it leaks, is crushed or deteriorated, or was undersized for the home, correcting it is often the difference between a new system that performs and one that disappoints. We test and tell you what we find.

What size system does my home need?

The right size comes from a load calculation, not from the tonnage of the unit being replaced. Homes change over the years — additions, new windows, better insulation — and the correct capacity changes with them. Our estimates always include that calculation.

Should I choose a heat pump or a furnace and AC?

In our climate, a heat pump handles the great majority of winter days comfortably, and because it moves heat rather than creating it by burning fuel, it is a highly efficient way to warm a home — one system, one thermostat, one maintenance schedule. A gas furnace can still make sense for homes with large heating loads or a preference for gas heat, and dual-fuel setups pair the two. During your estimate we compare the options for your house honestly.

Can a heat pump or new system use my existing ductwork?

Usually — with an important caveat. Heat pumps move more air in heating mode than a furnace does, so ducts that were marginal can become noisy or restrictive. We measure your duct system during the estimate and tell you honestly whether it is ready as-is or needs targeted corrections.

Are permits and Title 24 testing included?

Yes. Mars HVAC installations include city permits and inspections and Title 24 compliance testing, including duct leakage and refrigerant charge verification where required.
