AC INSTALLATION
A new air conditioner is one of the biggest comfort investments you will make in your home, and how well it performs for the next decade or more depends less on the brand on the box than on the quality of the installation. Mars HVAC installs central air conditioning systems for homes and businesses throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. We are a licensed C-20 HVAC contractor (Mars Construction Industries Corp, CSLB Lic #1138550), and every installation is sized, permitted, and tested the right way.
What Our AC Installation Service Includes
Proper installation starts before any equipment is ordered. We perform a load calculation based on your home’s size, insulation, windows, orientation, and ductwork, so the system is matched to the house — oversized systems short-cycle and leave humidity behind, while undersized systems run constantly and still fall behind on hot days. A typical Mars HVAC installation includes:
- Load calculation and equipment selection guidance
- Evaluation of existing ductwork, with repair or modification options
- Removal and responsible disposal of the old equipment
- New condenser, coil or air handler, refrigerant lines, and thermostat
- City permits and inspections
- Title 24 compliance testing, including duct leakage and refrigerant charge verification where required
- System startup, balancing, and a walkthrough of operation and filter care
Repair or Replace? How to Decide
If your current system needs a major repair, is well into its service life, uses phased-out R-22 refrigerant, breaks down repeatedly, or simply cannot keep the house comfortable during a heat wave, replacement often makes more sense than another repair bill. During your estimate we will lay out both paths honestly — what a repair buys you and what a new system changes — so you can decide with real numbers in front of you. Many homeowners also use a replacement to consider a heat pump, which heats and cools with a single system and suits our mild winters well.
Our Installation Process
We begin with an in-home evaluation and a written proposal. On installation day we protect floors and work areas, set and connect the equipment, charge and test the system, and verify performance room by room. We register your equipment warranty, review maintenance basics with you, and leave the space clean. Pairing your new system with one of our maintenance plans keeps it running the way it did on day one.

AC Installation Questions We Hear Often
How long does an installation take? A straightforward like-for-like replacement is typically completed in a day. Installations that include duct modification, a relocated condenser, or a full new system in a home that never had central air take longer, and we will give you a clear schedule before work begins so you can plan around it.
Do I need new ducts when I replace my air conditioner? Not always — but ducts are the most commonly overlooked part of a replacement. If your existing ductwork is intact, sealed, and properly sized, we reuse it. If it leaks, is crushed or deteriorated, or was undersized for the home, correcting it is often the difference between a new system that performs and one that disappoints. We test and tell you what we find.
What size system does my home need? The right size comes from a load calculation, not from the tonnage of the unit being replaced. Homes change over the years — additions, new windows, better insulation — and the correct capacity changes with them. Our estimates always include that calculation.
